Badami & Hampi
The magical temples of Badami and Hampi lie in the colourful state of Karnataka and have countless stories to tell. The experience starts in Goa, from there you continue to the small town of Badami. It offers a large number of tempting cave temples, built between 600 – 7000 years AD. Among them, you will also find the fantastic Bhutanatha Temple, made of solid stones and stone slabs. Later, leave Badami and head to the historic site of Hampi, on the south bank of the Tungabhadra River, the capital of the Kingdom Vijayanagar. On the way, you will have two excellent stopovers. First in Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage temple. And then the small village of Aihole, with 100 Hindu and some Jain temples. Then you can enjoy your stay in Hampi in peace. Day 1 – Arrival in Goa & Drive to Badami
Upon arrival in Goa, you will be picked up and driven directly to the city of Badami, 240km away. The comfortable Krishna Heritage Hotel awaits you. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 2 – Sightseeing & Drive to Hampi – via. Pattadakal & Aihole
After breakfast, you will visit Badami. Among you see: the four Hindu cave temples carved from reddish sandstone, the Bhutanatha temples, the Badami fortress, the Badami museum, the Mahakuta temple complex and the Banashankari Amma temple. Then it heads to Hampi, a beautiful city on the Tungabhadra River – northeast of Hospet. Also, Hampi was the capital of the powerful kingdom Vijayanagar from 1343 to 1565. After about 30 minutes you will stop in Pattadakal, where you will find large UNESCO World Heritage-listed temple buildings of the Chalukya dynasty from the 7th and 8th centuries. There is also a second stopover, this time in the village of Aihole. In the 6th century, this village was the capital of the Chalukya Empire. In total, there are over 100 Hindu and some Jain temples, including the Lad Khan & Durga temples. After arriving in Hampi, the luxurious Evolve Back Kamalapura Palace (Orange County) awaits you.
Day 3 – Hampi – Sightseeing
This day is started a bit more relaxed. You can have breakfast in peace until it then goes to the fantastic sightseeing tour. Among other sights, you will see the following: the Virupaksha Temple – with 42m high Gopurams (temple doors), the picturesque Matanga Hill, the Lotus Mahal, the Kadalekalu Ganesha Temple, the Vithala Temple Complex, the Queen’s Bath, the Elephant Stables and the Achutaraya Temple. The rest of the day you can enjoy the beautiful landscape.
Day 4 – End – Drive back to Goa & Flight to Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore
