Bhubaneswar, Konark & Puri
In the East Indian state of “Odisha” are many beautiful Hindu temples and these are very interesting as an extension. The wonderful experience starts in Bhubaneswar – the capital of Odisha. Some of the popular tourist attractions you will visit in Bhubaneswar are Lingaraj Temple, Ananta Vasudeva Temple, Raja Rani Temple, Parsurameswar Temple, Brahmeswar Temple, Mukteswar Temple and many others. Some wonderful attractions in the area include Dhauli Hill, Nanda Kanan, Ekamra Kannan, Udaigiri and Khandagiri Caves, and a few others. Konark is your next destination – known for the world famous Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also famous for a beach called “Chandrabhaga”. The itinerary also includes Raghurajpur, which is famous for its diligence and Patta Chitra (palm leaves art). Puri is a charming place to visit. It is one of the four holiest pilgrimage destinations in India (Char Dham). The Sri Jagannath Temple, Gundicha Temple, Puri Beach, etc. are the attractions to visit.
Day 1 – Arrival in Bhubaneswar – with Flight
On arrival at the airport of the “City of Temples” Bhubaneswar you will be welcomed and transferred to the Mayfair Lagoon Hotel. Later a visit to the Folk Museum and the Khandagiri & Udaigiri Jain Caves (oldest rock caves, the caves are reminiscent of the influence of Buddhism and Jainism in Odisha). Enjoy the rest of the day!
Day 2 – Bhubaneswar
After breakfast, visit the famous city temples, including Lingaraj, Parsurameswar, Mukteswar (one of the most prominent temples of Bhubaneswar, it was built in style very similar to that used in the Kalinga School of Temple Architecture and known as the ” Jewel of Odiya Architecture “) and Rajarani Temple. After lunch, visit the Nandankanan Zoo, famous for the White Tiger Safari and Botanical Garden.
Day 3 – Drive to Puri – via. Dhauli, Pipili and Konark
Today you continue to Puri and make a stopover in Dhauli (A Buddhist Stupa / Peace Pagoda) and Pipili (the Applique Work Village).) Also visit the Sun Temple of Konark (Surya Temple) – a temple dedicated to the Hindu sun god Surya. Built around 1250 in the North Indian Nagara style with influences from the South Indian Dravida architecture, it is the highlight of Odisha’s temple architecture and has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1984. Afterwards, drive to Puri and check in the Mayfair Waves Hotel.
Day 4 – Puri
Visit Lord Jagannath Temple (Non-Hindus are not allowed). The rest of the day you can relax in Puri or visit the beautiful beach.
Day 5 – Drive back to Bhubaneswar – via. Raghurajpur & Departure
You drive back to Bhubaneswar and visit on the way Raghurajpur (a Craftsman Village). After a walk, continue the drive to Bhubaneswar Airport and departure from there.
