What is an E-Visa for India?

How to Apply, Conditions and Costs
The process of application is simple. The Indian government website is at: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html. The process of applying is made very clear. There is a list given of all countries that can apply for an e-Tourist Visa for India. Applicants will have to have at least six months validity on their passport following the date of arrival in India. Travellers must also have a valid ticket to leave India or make an onward journey.The applicant must enter personal details and details of a valid passport in the online application page. This will be the scanned Bio Page showing the passport photograph and personal details. For an e-Medical Visa, an additional scanned letter from an Indian hospital on letterhead paper is required. For an e-Business Visa, the scanned Bio Page of the passport and a scan of a business card are required. There are other variants of the e-Visa for which additional documentation may be required. In addition to documents already mentioned, all applicants must submit a digital photograph in JPEG format. The applicant then pays the fee due. It can be seen that the whole application process is quite straightforward and manageable. The applicant will receive the relevant e-Visa documentation via email, usually within four days following application. An E-Visa should cost approximately £45 ( 51 €, $63).
