Oberoi Shimla & Siswan
This fabulous experience shows you the incredible Shimla in the Himalayas and the wooded Siswan at New Chandigarh, with two luxurious Oberoi hotels in India. The adventure starts in Shimla. The region of Shimla is impressive, it is located on the Himalayas and is, therefore, a bit cooler. A truly magical place to stay. It was the former residence of “Lord Kitchener”, and it exudes the ambience of a colonial hill station with luxurious rooms, a cosy lounge, a bridge room and a library. You can enjoy the following three nights just with a view of the mountains; we have some historical excursions also planned. The second chapter starts in the green Siswan, even here you have the perfect accommodation there. It is a brand new and unique luxury resort near Chandigarh, surrounded by over 8,000 hectares of protected natural forest. Relax and unwind at the property, blending traditional Indian architecture with chic, contemporary design elements. The exclusive experience in the states of Punjab & Himachal-Pradesh ends after five days, and you go home relaxed.
Day 1 – Arrival in Chandigarh & Drive to Shimla
Today, the experience with the luxurious Oberoi Hotels begins. You will be picked up at Chandigarh Airport by private car and chauffeur and driven to Shimla, 4 hours away, on the Himalaya Mountains. It is the capital of the cold state of Himachal Pradesh and lies at 2103 m altitude. Shimla has a long history. First, it was the Nepalese kingdom “Shyamala”, then it was taken over by British people in 1819. Also, this city was the colonial government of British India from 1834 to 1939 in the summer months, as it was very cool in the city. Upon arrival in Shimla, you will be transferred to the magical Oberoi Shimla Wildflower Hall. Formerly Lord Kitchener’s lair, it exudes the ambience of a colonial hill station with luxurious rooms, a cosy lounge, a bridge room and a library. Enjoy the stay with panoramic views of the Himalayas, nature walks, yoga, meditation and exclusive spa therapies. A unique open-air whirlpool offers uninterrupted countryside views.
Day 2 – Shimla – Sightseeing
After having breakfast, you will be taken to the sightseeing of this city. As already mentioned, Shimla has a high influence of the British, so some sights come from this time. Among others, you will see the Kalka-Shimla Railway, the Viceregal Lodge, the Christ-Church, the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, the Kali Bari Temple, the Himachal State Museum and the famous bazaar street “The Mall”. In earlier times, the Indians were not allowed to enter the road (only the British), this slowly changed after the 2nd World War. Nevertheless, one wasn’t allowed to wear Indian clothing.
Day 3 – Shimla
You can only relax on this day. The hotel offers many activities. You can have an excellent breakfast, swim in the open-air pool, meditate, go for a walk in nature or indulge in the spa.
Day 4 – Drive to Siswan
Today you continue to Siswan, green forest in the city of New Chandigarh. The fabulous Oberoi Sukhvilas Resort & Spa will be the hotel of yours. Surrounded by over 8,000 acres of protected natural forest on the foothills of the Himalayan outback, this accommodation is surrounded by lush greenery. Harmonizing traditional elements of Indian architecture, aesthetically-landscaped gardens and beautiful water features, the resort has been designed to allow guests to enjoy green views from every aspect. Guests looking for a luxurious dining experience can indulge their appetite in the all-day multi-cuisine restaurant, which has indoor and outdoor seating and traditional music.
Day 5 – End – Drive to Delhi
Today you drive to Delhi. There ends this experience.
